I am Libby Jones. I am 59 years old, and have been seeing things and talking to God since I was a young’un. I grew up in Northern Kentucky, right in the middle of horse country. We lived out in the country mostly with a few times of living in the city. I grew up roaming the countryside with my pets.
I love to read, always have. Since we lived out in the country, and this was during the stone age, I learned to read by watching my mothers’s finger move across the page while she read. I read everything I could get my hands on, cereal boxes, medicine labels, and the Bible. I read it through (except for the begats) before I went into kindergarten. I had a really wild imagination, now that I am older I know that I was seeing visions of the future, but everyone thought I was either lying or making up stories.
I loved animals, and had a special connection with them. I would go to the fence and whinny like a horse and the neighbor’s horse would come running. When I got older I would do that with my Uncle’s horses and try to ride them. I was too short, fat and clumsy to do so though! I would wander all over their farm with their dogs. Although I loved animals I was not always allowed to have one.
I also loved to draw and color. When I was in 7th grade I drew the picture of the deer that was in the TV Guide and a representative from that art school came to the house. At the time we were living in the ‘big city’ – Lexington, KY – My parents decided I was too young to go, the school had a family for me to live with and I had a full grant. I wish I had remembered that when I graduated high school. I still love to draw and color- for years I expressed my creative self through crazy quilting. Nowadays I do some crochet and I color a lot. I discovered Bullet Journaling and Bible Art Journaling!! WOOT!!
I have two children, my son lives out West with his family, I live here in Erie PA with my cat Ella, and my daughter and her family live about a mile away now. She moved up here from out West.
At one point in time I had the only live radio program in Lexington, ky. I remember driving over there are going in, I would usually get the Word for the day from the Lord on the way there! Talk about walking in faith! I would be so nervous , but He never let me down. I also started a small church there, we had Believer’s Meetings on Saturday night because I didn’t think it was right to try to steal people away from the church they had gone to most of their lives. Our church was for people who were spiritually gifted to coeme to- most of them their church didn’t believe in the Gifts of the Spirit, or had no time for those gifts to be used, or no training. I don’t really know of a great training except for practice, and you have to have a safe place to practice.
